So the World May Hear
The GRAMMY Foundation® was established in 1989 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture — from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the still unimagined musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals. The Foundation accomplishes this mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community as well as the general public. The Foundation works in partnership year-round with The Recording Academy to bring national attention to important issues such as the value and impact of music and arts education and the urgency of preserving our rich cultural heritage.
The Starkey Hearing Foundation supports the GRAMMY Foundation® by kicking off GRAMMY week activities on Feb 9 at GRAMMY Career Day. Career Day focuses on high school students that not only want to be singers and song writers, but sound engineers and producers. Starkey Hearing Ambassador Jordin Sparks will share the message of how important your hearing is to a career in music and giving them tips to protect their hearing. Jordin will also take this opportunity to encourage kids to post to Facebook or Tweet about how they can “listen carefully” and kick off a web contest through www.soundmatters.org.
Barbra Streisand is being recognized by MusiCares® for her extraordinary accomplishments as well as her philanthropic work — which has included a remarkable range of charity activities over the years. As the recipient of this year’s MusiCares® Person of the Year honor, Barbra Streisand joins an impressive list of past honorees: Tony Bennett, Bono, Natalie Cole, Phil Collins, David Crosby, Neil Diamond, Gloria Estefan, Aretha Franklin, Don Henley, Billy Joel, Elton John, Quincy Jones, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Sting, James Taylor, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder and Neil Young.
The Starkey Hearing Foundation is proud to partner with MusiCares® by honoring Ms. Barbra Streisand.
