Listen Carefully on World Hearing Day

World Hearing Day is annual global movement that takes place March 3 to remind people, especially youth, of the importance of taking care of their hearing.

For years, Starkey Hearing Foundation’s Listen Carefully initiative has been working across the United States to educate teenagers on the fragility of their hearing, the fact that noise-induced hearing loss is permanent, and how it can be prevented.

It’s alarming that young people today are losing their hearing faster than their grandparents, and that currently one in six teens has noise-induced hearing loss, a rate that is 30 percent higher than the previous decade.

Listen Carefully strives that through education and awareness, a new generation can lead the change in national behavior by protecting their hearing, just like previous generations did by wearing seatbelts and helmets.
