Toluca, Mexico is a busy city filled with hardworking, gracious people. We never know what surprises are in store for us when we visit. It’s not out of the ordinary for people to bring us gifts in return for the gift of hearing. We’ve been given roosters, chickens and one time even a goat. However, each time we tell them to keep their “gifts” for us until we return, knowing they need the animals and other possessions more than we do. This last mission trip was filled with many wonderful stories, but we will always remember one little boy and his mother who through tears simply said “Gracias” because we unlocked the silence in their lives.
