Even the unusually rainy weather at Phoenix Municipal Stadium couldn’t keep away our dedicated volunteers, sponsors and celebrity supporters. Foundation friends Marlee Matlin, Derrick Coleman, Greg Jennings, J.R. Martinez, Daymond John and Kyle Rudolph — among many others — joined Fitzgerald to help fit patients with brand-new hearing aids customized to their hearing loss. New friends were introduced to the Foundation’s work as well, including musicians Gavin DeGraw and Steve Aoki, actress Maria Menounos, and WWE Divas Nikki and Brie Bella.
The day was especially memorable for 15-year-old Larry Crain, who had struggled with hearing loss since birth. When he arrived at the fitting site, Crain was excited to receive his new hearing aids, but he had no idea what else we had in store for him! Much to Crain’s surprise, his idol Larry Fitzgerald was there to help Bill Austin with the fitting. It was a day the younger Larry won’t soon forget, and as Fitzgerald said, “This is what really matters in life, and to be able to share this experience with Starkey in the city that I pla y in is really special.”
As the sun began to set, Bill Austin reflected on the incredible day: “This is one team — everyone who came out today,” he said. “The more people that can come together to do good things, the brighter our light will become.”
