Kuala Terengganu

March 2015 Malaysia

From Nepal we traveled east to Kuala Terengganu, located on the east coast of Malaysia. The mission would not have been possible without the help of Richard Low, Joyce Chuah and the Best Hearing Aid Centre team, who made sure everything ran smoothly. We were also joined by special guest and Operation Change winner Patrick Morrison, along with his wife Roseanne. Longtime supporter Knowles Electronics sponsored the mission.

We kicked off events with group trainings for our new partners and volunteers. These trainings are essential to ensuring sustainability and understanding, and help set our partners up for success. During the training we reviewed and practiced our methods hands-on. Once training was complete, we were ready to fit nearly 1,500 people.

While we were able to help many people in Malaysia, two little ones struck a special chord with the team — brother and sister, Muhammad and Ramabhanie. Neither of them had heard before, and their response to sound was instantaneous. The siblings began to interact with one another, testing out their vocal abilities with yells, giggles and “ba ba ba’s.” It was rewarding to see the instant impact of our work.
