May 2015 Uganda

We traveled back to the banks of Lake Victoria, this time to the Ugandan cities of Jinja, Soroti and Kampala. Uganda holds a special place in the hearts of our team, and we visit the country frequently. The people of Uganda have faced numerous hardships and conflicts in recent decades, and the gift of hearing brings hope to many who have persisted through war and poverty.

In Kampala, Bill Austin and the Foundation received a very special certificate of appreciation from our partners at Connect People with Disability for our continued dedication to the people of Uganda. It was a great honor, and we are committed to connecting Ugandans to the world of sound for many years to come.

We celebrated Mother’s Day in the town of Soroti, helping to reconnect many mothers with their children through the gift of hearing. However, it was Bill Austin who made a special connection with a patient that day. Denis, 21, had a bright smile that could light up a room. As he was fit with his hearing aids, he couldn’t believe all of the voices he was hearing around him! His smile grew even bigger, and Denis wholeheartedly thanked the team for his new “precious gift.” The moment was precious to us as well, and we are glad that we could change Denis’ life for the better.

Special Thanks
