June 2015 Honduras

We kicked off our time in Honduras with a birthday celebration for our photographer, Mark. In true Foundation fashion, Mark celebrated his birthday in four countries in one day as the team made their way from Kenya to Honduras!

The team fit nearly 2,000 patients during the hearing missions in San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, making it our largest hearing mission in Honduras to date. Our partners from Operation Honduras helped make it possible by ensuring everything was prepared for our arrival. Wonderful sponsors lent a hand, including Sandi Young, Michael Rosengart, John Bachman and Sheri Libby of Economy Hearing Aid Centers, Gary and Julie Hammers of Hammers Hearing and J.B. Robillard from Robillard Hearing.

Hearing loss can occur for many reasons, but some are more common than others. In Tegucigalpa we met Constantino, 80, who lost his hearing when lightening struck his home. The lightening bolt destroyed the house, as well as Constantino’s hearing. Luckily, we were able to restore his hearing — and he assured us that his house is back in working order as well.

Special Thanks
