Managua

June 2015 Nicaragua

Next we headed to Managua, Nicaragua’s breath-taking capital located on the southwest shore of Lake Managua. It’s a blooming cultural centre, with diverse foods from diverse people, many of whom are of Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian or Turkish descent.

Our friend Jack McConnell, 15, and his mother Tanya, joined our team once again. Jack has been on several missions with the team and has hearing loss. Bill Austin gave him the gift of hearing as a child and inspired him to start his own Foundation and give back to others.

In Managua, we were able to impact the lives of so many beautiful people, including Edvardo Aguirre. Born in 1905, he is now 110 years old! He had been struggling with hearing loss, and we were excited to be able to reconnect him to the world so he can bestow his wisdom upon future generations.

We also gave the gift of hearing to three nuns, the Mother Superior was so happy and delighted that she blessed Bill Austin and all the work he is doing!

Special Thanks
