New York

September 2015 USA

In fall of 2015, we teamed up with the New York Yankees, Minnesota Vikings, Wilf Family Foundation and The Jewish Federations of North America to provide free hearing aids to people in need at Yankee Stadium. The nearly 100 recipients ranged in age from four to 93 and included 15 Holocaust survivors.

We worked hand-in-hand with New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi, former Yankees players Tino Martinez and Lee Mazzilli, Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf, Vikings owner and vice chairman Lenny Wilf, former NBA champion Ron Harper, television personality Daymond John and others to reflect caring and change lives.

It was especially meaningful to share the gift of hearing with more than a dozen Holocaust survivors who have been through so much and were struggling to connect to their families and communities because of hearing loss. We were touched by their stories and perseverance, and many told us that watching the reactions of the children being fit with hearing aids was even more special than being fit themselves!

“Being part of a family who are Holocaust survivors, this is an extremely important cause," Lenny Wilf said. "If we can play a role in bettering the lives of these survivors and children in need, we need to participate. We appreciate the opportunity Starkey Hearing Foundation has provided for the Vikings organization and our family to join forces with the Yankees on this endeavor.”
