While this hearing mission swing’s stop in Rwanda was brief, it was filled with meaningful moments and amazing life-changing stories of the impact of the gift of hearing. Longtime Foundation supporter and NFL superstar Larry Fitzgerald joined the team to help open up the world of sound to more than 1,300 people.

The hearing mission began with a special delivery. The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) arrived with a large group of refugees hoping for hearing care. Once the team had fit all of the UNHCR patients, our local team brought Marie to our attention. In addition to fighting illness, Marie had been struggling with hearing loss and was unable to communicate with her family. In the hospital and on oxygen, she could not travel to our hearing mission, so we brought the hearing mission to her. Bill Austin came to her bedside to give her back the gift of hearing.
