The Starkey Hearing Foundation is thrilled to announce the inauguration of our second Institute location in Manila, Philippines!
This expansion is a response to the significant demand in the Asia Pacific region and is strengthened by our longstanding partnership with the University of Santo Tomas, which has over 400 years of academic excellence.
Tackling Hearing Loss in the Philippines
Our new location is expected to meet the pressing needs of the region, as highlighted by a National Survey of Hearing Loss conducted by the NIH in the Philippines. The survey revealed alarming statistics, with 7% of children under 18 years old, 15% of adults, and a staggering 49% of adults aged 65 and above experiencing moderate or worse hearing loss. Left unaddressed, these conditions can lead to delayed speech development, hindered educational attainment, career obstacles, and social isolation.
