Our Work

We believe hearing is a precious gift.
Hearing helps individuals share, promoting love and caring around the world. It also enriches opportunities for individuals to learn, grow, and communicate. Hearing health improves the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
Our work focuses on systems change through global partnerships, education and capacity building. The first Starkey Hearing Institute, a program of Starkey Hearing Foundation, was created in 2016 in Lusaka, Zambia, to help address the shortage of hearing healthcare professionals in the developing world, and we are committed to opening two more institutes in the next five years.
It’s our mission to train and educate on hearing, hearing loss, and hearing aids to give our partners the ability to share the gift of hearing to those in need, empowering them to achieve their greatest potential.
Our work has two core pillars:

- Education & Capacity-Building – We share what we learn to help others, and work to build our collective capacity through relationships, academic curricula, high-level partnerships and education. We’re training the next generation of hearing healthcare providers at Starkey Hearing Institute. Our commitment to Education & Capacity-Building is a priority.
- Global Advocacy – We advocate for hearing health every day, engaging global health professionals and national governments in developing hearing health policy solutions. With experience giving the gift of hearing in more than 100 countries, we’re uniquely positioned to engage leading ear and hearing health professionals and partner with academic institutions to help address key issues. We share our knowledge and experience on how hearing care can be provided within public health systems, and share model plans with public health officials working to develop country-specific national plans of their own. Our Global Advocacy initiative leverages our experience to help shape hearing healthcare solutions around the world. It is a key part of our mission.
