Doctor Carla Rondeau was born and raised in El Salvador, Central America. From an early age, her dream was to become the first Audiologist in her country to provide the best help to a population in need. She began her education and training in Audiology at Radford University and obtained her Master’s Degree from renowned Gallaudet University in Washington,D.C. She became the first Doctor of Audiology from El Salvador after graduating from Nova Southeastern University.
She returned to her home country to open up the first Audiology private practice, Oido Center, where she quickly realized that too many people couldn’t afford proper hearing aids and care. She was determined to find a helping hand and in 1997, while she attended AAA convention she was fortunate to meet Mr. William Austin and become a part of a bigger mission. Soon after, Mr. William Austin and Mrs.Tani Austin travelled to El Salvador and assisted over 400 children with 800 hearing Aids. Together they were awarded the Humanitarian Award from AAA in 1998.
Carla feels blessed to have worked with the foundation across the world as Clinical Director of SHF. They have worked together for over two decades and thousands of miles in developing countries helping to build and develop the WFA CBHHC Model. She has witnessed the development of this program for almost 28 years and she can attest that the legacy must continue with the compassion and volunteering, the right for everybody to have dignity, as something Mr. Austin has poured his heart into. So the World may Hear.
