A Great Local Partnership

Wednesday night marked a proud moment for Starkey Hearing Foundation as we teamed up with GiGi’s Playhouse to announce the grand opening of a new gym at their Twin Cities Achievement Center.

The opening of the new gym will greatly increase the space available at GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities and allow them to broaden the activities and services they provide.

Serving children and adults of all ages with Down syndrome, GiGi’s Playhouse offers educational and therapeutic programs that aim to maximize self-confidence and empower individuals to achieve their greatest potential. All of GiGi’s Playhouse programs are offered to families at no charge.

“If it weren’t for the Starkey Foundation, our expansion of this gymnasium wouldn’t have happened this year,” said Tim Mastel, GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities President of the Board. “Starkey Foundation made 2015 a breakout year for us, and we truly hope this is a lasting partnership for years to come.”

Before the dedication ceremony even began, dozens of children were already taking full advantage of the new gym space, running around and engaging in various activities. It’s clear that this added space will get put to great use.

Similar to Starkey Hearing Foundation’s belief that there is no such thing as disability, only ability, GiGi’s Playhouse focuses on achievement, belief and confidence. We’re proud to give assistance to this local organization committed to helping people in our local Twin Cities area. 

“Starkey Hearing Foundation believes in giving back and it starts here at home,” said Richard Brown, Starkey Hearing Foundation President and Board Chair. “This is a phenomenal building and a phenomenal organization, and we are very glad to be part of this.”

Before wrapping up the ceremony, Brown announced that Starkey Hearing Foundation will ensure any GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities participant who needs hearing help, gets the free hearing aids and care they need. We hope the gesture serves as a token of our dedication to being part of GiGi’s Playhouse’s fantastic cause.
