October 2013 Kenya

From the thrilling beauty of the Masai Mara to the possibility filled halls of KAAGA School for the Hearing Impaired in Meru to the dreams swelling in the streets of Kibera, the hearing mission team crisscrossed Kenya opening up the world of sound to everyone from 3 to 103.

In the Masai Mara, the team once again brought the gift of hearing to the Maasai tribe. Living alongside some of the most breathtaking and dangerous animals on Earth, the gift of hearing takes on a life and death meaning to the Maasai people. Word of our hearing mission spread quickly throughout the area. An 80-year-old woman heard about our hearing mission, and walked five miles with the hope that Bill Austin would be able to restore her connection to the world around her. As soon as Bill fit her, her eyes filled with life and joy as she realized her journey and hope had not been in vain.
