A strong team from Starkey India supports every hearing mission in India, but our recent mission there was also met with an amazing team of volunteers, including long-time Foundation supporter and actress Shannon Elizabeth and NBA legend Ron Harper.

More than 29 local audiology students volunteered to help and gained hands-on experience teaching patients about their new hearing aids. In addition, we welcomed Rasheed, who was first found to have hearing loss at the age of five. Immediately, his parents had him fit with hearing aids, which allowed him to remain in mainstream schools. There he learned to speak the local language Kannada, English and sign language! Now 30, Rasheed was a perfect counselor, teaching the children how to use and care for their hearing aids.

During this four-city mission, we fit more than 11,000 hearing aids. With the strong partnership of the Starkey India team and all of our amazing volunteers over the years, we have given the gift of hearing to nearly 80,000 Indians in need.
