February 2014 Ghana

The road we travel is always filled with friends, and during our hearing mission in Ghana we were thrilled to welcome the support of so many. From age 1 to 81, patients arrived with hopeful eyes as the team and our local partners gave more than 1,900 children and adults a new connection to life.

One of the volunteers joining the team was 12-year-old Jack McConnell who was born with hearing loss. Rather than letting it hold him back, he views his hearing loss as a gift that pushes him to help open up the world of sound to others through his organization 2020 Hearing. He brought this passion with him to Ghana in 2013 to help our team identify patients and take impressions in preparation for this hearing mission. Jack returned with us to finish the job. With dedicated supporters like him and the determined spirit of the Ghanaian people, we are excited to see our program grow there.
