Monrovia

February 2014 Liberia

The first female head of state in Africa and Nobel Prize winner, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf joined the team in Monrovia to highlight the importance of hearing care. We worked diligently to ensure all were given a deeper connection to the world of sound.

Katie Meyler, founder of More Than Me, an organization that gets girls off the streets and into schools in one of Liberia’s poorest slums, also joined the team. Katie understands the struggles many children with hearing loss face, because she has struggled with it as well. Bill Austin fit her with hearing aids in the United States, and she joined us to give that gift to others.
