February 2014 Mexico

While the beauty of the high cliffs, sandy beaches and abundant wildlife along the Sea of Cortez was breathtaking, it was not the focus of the team and our incredible group of volunteers. With the help of the Argyros Family Foundation and the entire Argyros family, our focus was opening up the world of sound to people in need.

Philanthropists George, Julia and Stephanie Argyros, along with several generations of their big-hearted and inspiring family, worked to build personal connections to each person they met. However, it was a young girl who we were unable to reach with hearing aids that stood out the most. Bill Austin guided the Argyros family through every power level of hearing aid, but unfortunately, the young girl’s hearing loss was so profound that hearing aids were not able to help her. The Argyros family banded together and poured their love and attention into reaching this young lady in other ways. As a result, by the time she left, it was clear that she felt like a star filled with nothing but possibility.
