The gift of hearing gave new life to Senegal's explosive colors and brilliant smiles during this hearing mission in Dakar. Famous Senegalese musician Wally Ballago Seck welcomed patients to the world of sound as the team fit them with hearing aids.

Working late into the night, the team found energy in the inspirational stories of each patient. Bill Austin fit a 70-year-old retired school headmaster who was frustrated by how his hearing loss was separating him from the world. During the fitting, Bill communicated with the headmaster through a translator. However, when this same man returned for AfterCare in the following weeks, he informed the team proudly in English that he had taught history, grammar and English. The gift of hearing gave him the courage to once again use the skills and knowledge he had spent his life imparting on his students.
